Hello everyone,my name is divine ,a growing Christian like you and lately I’ve been studying what the Bible has to say about Negative things
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT SPEAKING NEGATIVE THINGS?
It says death and life are in the power of the tongue,and those who love it will eat it’s fruits.
We all have bad days when negative self-talk us down and makes our already faint mindset even worse. Though no one is positive all the time, it’s important to consistently work on your internal dialogue, since it has a significant impact on your destiny.
Ephesians 4:9 wisely tells us not to use “abusive” language. Rather, “Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them”
This Scripture not only applies to the words we say to others but also to ourselves. If you know your words have been more poisonous than positive and more belittling than uplifting,here are some scriptures to replace negative words with encouraging truths
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING WORTHLESS }
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING PURPOSELESS }
Psalms 139:13 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING WORRIED AND FEARFUL
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING ATTACKED }
Romans 8:31 “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING DISCOURAGED }
Romans 8:18 “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING VULNERABLE OR ALONE }
Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection
There is a biblical affirmation for every struggle, storm, and situation you face. When you speak God’s word in troubling times, not only will you be uplifted, but you will be inviting God into your circumstances—for there is power in His word! His word is alive ,
There are other things that may lead to Negative self talk !!!!!!!
You might speak negative words to yourself until it becomes an habit without you knowing because there is an influence behind it
And some of the influence can be :
1)Talking too much : There should be a discipline of the tongue.
2)listening to secular songs: we are being discipled by what we pay attention too,then you realize that a curse word becomes a regular thing to say for you
3)Moving with the wrong set of friends;can also be a very big influence.The bible warns us to not be unequally yolked with unbelievers When you move with friends that still have their carnal minds and don’t see curse words,or Negative talk and more inappropriate things as an issue.They can affect your way of life
NOTE:Next blog we will fully discuss about the sin of talking too much !🗞️. Stay tuned
5 biblical steps to overcome Negative thinking!
If we’re going to overcome negative thinking, we must take a biblical approach.
1. Identify every source of negativity
2. Take every thought captive
“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:5
3. Renew your mind
The goal isn’t just to overcome negative thinking
Once you’ve captured that negative thought, you need to begin building new thinking patterns.
4. Cultivate thankfulness
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
4.worship
Worship brings rest ,it brings rest from our enemy because as God is glorified the enemy is confused. He flees. He is confused. He defeats himself.
Prayer: God, I sometimes say negative things to myself and about myself that are not helpful. Please help me to confess your word instead so I will experience Your power in my life in greater ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I hopes this gets to everyone who wants a change just like me . With love Divine
