Hi everyone,it’s the beginning of a blissful year and today I picked up my pen in a long while. Happy New year Everyone!!!
When the Bible speaks about God being the vine and us being the branches, it warns that any branch that does not bear fruit will be cut down and cast into the fire. This morning, the Holy Spirit revealed a powerful insight to me regarding this verse.
I woke up and sat in front of a tree at the corner of our driveway. Since it is currently the dry season here in Nigeria, the tree was withering; I noticed that while some parts were still vibrant and green, others were completely dried out. This tree, which once looked so grand and beautiful, now appeared diminished simply because some of its branches and leaves had died.
The Spiritual Significance
There is a clear difference between green leaves and dried ones:
• Green leaves signify the life of a believer who bears fruit.
• Dried leaves represent the life of a believer who does not.
As I looked at the tree, I felt an urge to cut off the dried branches because they ruined the tree’s overall beauty. This illustrates a profound point: our lives should glorify God.
Just as healthy green leaves make a tree look beautiful, we are called to reflect His glory. When we do not bear fruit as believers, we begin to look like those dried leaves—standing out like a sore thumb. Our lives must be a testament that brings honor to God.
