  • LIVING IN GOD’S MERCY

Living under God’s mercy is a profound theme woven throughout the Bible, reflecting the compassionate and forgiving nature of God towards humanity. Mercy, as depicted in the Scriptures, is an essential attribute of God, demonstrating His willingness to withhold deserved punishment and instead offer grace and compassion.

If you were to look up the words “merciful” and “mercy”you would find hundreds of references. God’s Word overwhelms us with numerous promises of his marvelous grace, lovingkindness and compassion.

Psalm 103 vs 8: “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy”

All of God’s promises of mercy are given to comfort us in our trials. When we fail God, we think he is mad at us and ready to judge us. Instead, he wants us to know, “I will see you through. Simply repent. I am not mad at you. I am merciful, full of grace and love for you. Draw comfort from this.” It is comforting to know that God’s mercy will never be withdrawn from us. How comforting to know that when we sin or fail, his love toward us grows even stronger.

Unless we draw comfort from the mercy God shows to us, we are in no position to give mercy that offers comfort to others. Only when we experience the absolute mercifulness of God will there be an overflow of mercy for everyone around us. We become merciful people because we ourselves are living in the mercy of God.

What Does Mercy Reveal About God’s Character?

Mercy reveals how just and fair, yet loving and compassionate, God is.

Hebrews 4 vs 16:“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in our time of need”

We are forgiven because of God’s mercy. “God’s mercy not only shows us who he is, but also tells us something about ourselves.”

We would be wholly lost if it weren’t for the abundant mercy of our heavenly Father. He has mercy on us, so we are to have mercy on others.

I read in an article that “learning to be an agent of mercy transforms our relationships.”Our natural tendency is to act in sinful, selfish ways; it is only with a transformed heart that we can truly be merciful toward someone else. Mercy releases human understanding in order to adopt the command to love the people He(GOD) places in our lives.

Embrace God’s gift of mercy today for it wasn’t because of our own deeds that we were saved, but through God’s mercy and grace.

As you reflect on this ,commit to living in gratitude and thanking God always for his never ending mercy

    His mercy Endureth forever

    Amen .

  • FORGIVE YOURSELF

It’s been a very busy school week, but also a good one for me because I had the chance to have a very interesting conversation with my friend.

We shared our thoughts on a story we heard from our professor. He had a friend who was easily angered by people who didn’t do the right thing. However, he later found himself in a situation where he had to speak to these same people at a gathering—but he couldn’t. The reason? He couldn’t forgive himself.

Though he was a follower of Christ, his attitude toward these people didn’t reflect Christ’s character. When the opportunity came for him to invite them to a fellowship program, he was unable to do so because of how he had treated them in the past.

Hearing this story, most people might just say, “Be kind to people; you don’t know when you’ll need them.” But it was more than that.

You see, he couldn’t function properly in his calling. He couldn’t do what he was supposed to do because he hadn’t forgiven himself.

Now, let’s dive into the Bible.

Take a look at Paul’s life. Do you know that Paul’s ability to function in his calling was largely based on his ability to forgive himself?

I began to understand Paul—the man who had blood on his hands—and the courage it took for him to forgive himself. If he had chosen not to, he would have had God’s forgiveness but still failed to fulfill his destiny. He would have lived and died in pain and regret.

I may not know you, what you’ve done, or how bad it is. But I do know this: you need to let it go today. You are still everything beautiful that God says you are, and He still wants to use you.

You’ve spent too much time hating yourself. It’s time to forgive yourself and move past it. There is a beautiful life ahead of you and important work to do for God’s kingdom.

So, extend grace to yourself. And if you feel like you don’t deserve it, that’s okay. By definition, grace is undeserved kindness.

I hope this has blessed you.

Our blog post for the week is on its way and will be published on Saturday. Stop by and read it!

    God bless you all.
